SUMMARY:COPTIC BOOK BINDING with Diane Peterson
DESCRIPTION:Join artist Diane Peterson as she teaches participants the basics and beauty of custom coptic book binding. This binding method dates back to ancient practices from Egypt and Northern Africa and has held up in modern day as a great way to create journals\, sketch books\, art books and/or any book that needs to be durable\, sturdy and lie perfectly flat. \n$75 Workshop fee includes a book binding kit for each participant as well as a book to take home. \nTo reserve your spot\, venmo Diane at: Diane-Peterson-888 \n  \nAbout The Artist: \n \nDiane Peterson lives in Kenai\,\nAlaska. She is a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on installation and performance art. She came upon bookbinding by taking a class in Paris\, France in 2018. “I am now at a point in this craft that I would like to teach others.” Diane is also the Coordinator of the monthly Art Hive at the Kenai Art Center. The Art Hive is an open studio for the public to come and create art free of charge. Second Saturday of each month 9am-Noon. DESCRIPTION:The KAC is offering twice monthly outdoor art events (June through August) that give artists a chance to get together and creatively capture the scenery\, people and feeling of the Kenai/Soldotna Area.  This project has two purposes: \n1: Offer outdoor events that support and encourage artists to create bonds within the art community. \n2. Encourage artists  to create plein air works for submission for the upcoming call for art show titled OUR TOWN scheduled for March 2027. \nJune 6th Location:  \nThe Kenai Kite Festival (Millennium Square Park\, frontage Rd/Bridge Access\, Kenai) \nTime: 11:00–3:00 \nInstructions  for Artists: \nJoin local artists outside while we create art that captures a sense of where we wander\, rest\, socialize\, recreate and live.
