DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \n \nCall For Art: DREAMS OF THE SUN  \nArtwork submission dates: November 8th through December 19th 2025 \nExhibition Dates: January 2nd through January 30th 2026 \nOpening Reception: Friday January 2nd 2026 5–7 pm \n  \nDuring the dark winter months in Alaska\, we often reminisce of spring and summer–when the sun felt always present and real in our sky. From ancient myths to modern science\, the sun has inspired awe\, reverence\, and creativity. It gives life\, marks time\, and shapes our days with its warmth and brilliance. For our upcoming exhibition\, DREAMS OF THE SUN\, we invite artists to explore the sun in all its forms—literal\, symbolic\, emotional\, and environmental. \nThe KAC is interested in unique and original works including but not limited to: painting\, photography\, sculpture\, textile\, digital media\, installation\, and video\, etc that reminds us of our love for the light\, warmth and glow of the sun. Whether it’s golden hour landscapes\, abstract interpretations of solar energy\, personal stories of warmth and growth\, or explorations of shadow and illumination\, this show invites work that reflects the many dimensions of the sun.  \nWe prefer new art but will accept original works that have not been on exhibition in the KAC in the last 5 years. All 2D and hanging art must have traditional “ready to hang” hardware attached. If submitting work that is framed or under glass\, the surfaces must be clean and free of smudges and prints.  \n  \nArt Entry Submission form must accompany all submissions. If you love creating and teaching others how to create\, we would love to host your workshop here at the KAC. \nWorkshop artists are responsible for: \n\nPoint of sale for all workshop fees\n$45  building use fee (payable to the KAC before or on the day of the workshop)\nall workshop materials\n\nWorkshop artists keep 100% of workshop fees. SUMMARY:Mural Show 2025
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nIt is once again time for the Annual Mural Show! The artists have assembled\, the plans have been drawn and we are ready to start this amazing collaborative event! Artists will start painting on Tuesday Nov 4th and the art center will be open for extended hours for the public to stop by and watch the daily progress of the murals. This is an exciting and much anticipated show that gives viewers the chance to see the work unfold before the opening reception. Because of the week of painting\, the opening reception will happen the SECOND Friday of the month. Painting hours for artists will start on Tuesday November 4th 10:00 am to 10:00 pm every day until Tuesday November 11th\, ending at 10:00 pm. \nThe Mural Show 2025 will open on Friday November 14th at the opening reception from 5– 7 pm. \nFree Event. Open to the public. Live Music by Robert Parsons. Refreshments\, beer and wine served. \nThe show will run from November 14th through Friday December 19th. DESCRIPTION:Call For Art–HALLOWEEN Back Gallery Show October 2025 \nThe KAC  is looking for artworks (2D\, 3D\, digital art\, kinetic art\, pottery\, etc) that exemplify the good-natured-spookiness\, fun and creativity of the spirit of Halloween. (No extreme gore\, violence or hate art will be accepted). What creates a sense of mystery\, fear\,  and excitement for you in regards to Halloween? Childhood nostalgia? Curiosity of the unknown? Conquering your fears? Consider what stirs your soul about Halloween and how you can reflect that in your art. All submitted works must meet the guidelines of the KAC mission statement and vision statement found here: https://kenaiartcenter.org/our-mission/. \nEligibility: Artists 18 years and older. Artists submitting work must be residents of the state of Alaska with preference being given to residents of the Kenai Peninsula. Each artwork submission must be accompanied by a completed art entry form with entry fee paid at time of submission.  \nSubmission Requirements: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. All submitted work must have the appropriate art entry submission form identification slips completely filled out and taped with blue tape on either the back\, bottom or some portion of the piece. Submitted works need to be created within the LAST 5 YEARS and not shown at the KAC before. All 2D artwork must have traditional hanging hardware attached. In other words\, the art needs to be “ready to hang” with either a robust hanging wire\, or hardware designed specifically for hanging artwork. Art that is framed under glass needs to have a clean surface free of spots or fingerprints. Print Art Entry Form here: https://kenaiartcenter.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/KAC-art-entry-form.pdf  \nSubmission Deadlines: The KAC will be accepting work for the HALLOWEEN show beginning Saturday August 30th through Saturday September 27th.  \nSelection Process: All submitted pieces will be reviewed by the KAC board of directors and the KAC Executive Director. The KAC board and Executive Director will determine which artworks fit the theme\, mood and artistic vision of the show. All decisions about artworks selected are final. Some artists will have the opportunity to be highlighted on the KAC website\, KAC social media\, featured in Kenai and Soldotna Chambers of Commerce promos\, along with recognition on KDLL radio and the Peninsula Clarion newspaper.  \nOpening Reception for HALLOWEEN: The First Friday Opening Reception is October 3rd 2025. Reception begins at 5:00 with artist talks (artists to be determined later) at 6 pm with reception closing at 7 pm. The HALLOWEEN exhibit will run through Friday October 31st. DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Silent Art Auction and live Outcry Auction are both back in full force in September 2025!  \nThe Silent Auction opens at our First Friday Opening Reception September 5th 5–7 pm. Live Outcry Auction September 27th 6 pm. \nThe largest annual fundraiser for the Kenai Art Center is just around the corner. The Kenai Art Center is 100% funded by private donors and we couldn’t exist without this support.  \nThe KAC staff has handpicked and invited your favorite KAC artists\, potters and local businesses to participate by donating unique and original art and valuable goods and services for auction at our biggest fundraising event of the year.  \nThe Silent Auction bidding starts September 5th at the First Friday Opening Reception. The Live Outcry Auction will happen on Saturday September 27th at 6 pm.   Drinks and catered hors d’oeuvres will be served at the Outcry Auction. \n This year we are collaborating with the Kenai Potters Guild and will be auctioning off beautiful stoneware platters crafted by the potters and decorated by KAC artists.  \nVisit the gallery often during the month to place your bids on the bid sheet next to the silent auction art works\, right up until September 27th.   \nThe Outcry Auction art is also on display for the month\, so you can see which pieces to bid on in person–but get your tickets if you want to be part of the Outcry Auction on the 27th.  \nThis fundraiser supports the Kenai Art Center’s workshops\, programs\, and preservation of our historic old town Kenai building.  Many thanks to everyone for supporting and  participating! \nGet your tickets here in the QR code below–but keep your receipt–your receipt is your ticket!
