SUMMARY:Susie Scrivner--Portraits Of The Kenai
DESCRIPTION:Susie Scrivner is a self taught painter\, sculptor\, leathersmith\, glass worker\, musician and much more. She is the owner of SZQ Studio in Soldotna\, Alaska. After she suffered a severe life changing illness\, Susie began to delve into painting and other forms of art. According to Susie before she ever sold any work\, she listed a painting “As a fluke…[in] a local ad and when it sold\, I began to wonder if this closed door that I had viewed with so much loss and grief\, was perhaps actually a guiding wall that if I had the courage to follow it\, would direct me to a new place where life could breathe through me once more.”  \nWe invite you to the solo show PORTRAITS OF THE KENAI to see the many glorious works by Susie Scrivner at our First Friday Opening Reception on Friday October 4th\, 5–7 pm.  Live piano by Maria Allison. Appetizers. Free event open to the Public.

SUMMARY:MOMENTUM--KAC SILENT ART AUCTION 2024
DESCRIPTION:Our September & October 2024 fundraiser will be a little bit different this year. Instead of the usual Harvest Art Auction & the Silent Art Auction\, in the back gallery we will have on exhibition MOMENTUM–KAC SILENT ART AUCTION 2024.  The Kenai Art Center has been around for 70 years….and we want to carry that momentum into the future for at least seventy more years! We have invited local artists to exhibit and offer their work at a reduced rate so you can take advantage of the opportunity to purchase amazing art at a fraction of the original cost. In the back gallery\, The silent bidding will open on Friday September 6th at 5 pm in conjunction with the First Friday Opening Reception of the Aquarelle watercolor show happening in the main gallery.  Gallery visitors will have from September 6th until October 25th to bid to own their favorite pieces. This is the main fundraising event of the year for the KAC and the proceeds will go to updating and repairing our beloved old building (new boiler\, lighting system\, new roof\, to name a few). In the past\, we have asked the participating artists to donate their work with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the art center. Because our mission is to help support local artists\, this year we felt we wanted to adhere to that mission more closely and have given the artists the option to donate 100% of the sale of their art to the KAC or they can choose to receive 30% of the auction sale of the piece they donate.  This is going to be an amazing event! First Friday Opening Reception Sept 6ht 5–7 pm. Live music by the TUNEWEAVERS! Delicous appetizers and wine will be served.  Free event and open to the public.

SUMMARY:Wildflower Whimsy featuring artist Ashlee Oliver-Frey
DESCRIPTION:On the right wall of our main gallery Ashlee Oliver-Frey will be showing works in her exhibit titled “Wildflower Whimsy“. Ashlee describes herself as a photographer and watercolor artist. She moved to Alaska in 2014 after graduating from Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine. Although her profession is small animal medicine\, she has nurtured a passion for fine art since her youth. \n“I live in a small\, cedar-sided home tucked in the woods in south-central Alaska surrounded by abundant wildlife and native plants. In recent years I have channeled my passion for the local flora and fauna with my fascination of fantasy into the creation of my artwork.  My favorite mediums to express my artistic nature are Watercolor and Photography. My recent works explore the threshold between the imagination and the bountiful Alaskan landscape\, and I am excited to see where this journey takes me.”   \nFor more information about Ashlee and her art please visit: https://ashleeoliverfreyart.square.site/ \nThis First Friday opening reception will coincide with the Tattoo Artists opening reception on Friday August 2nd 5–7 pm. SUMMARY:THEN AND NOW: A Look At The Kenai Art Center--Exhibition August 2024

Instead\, starting Wednesday July 31st\, the left wall of the main gallery will be showing THEN AND NOW: A Look at the Kenai Art Center. This binder contains historic documents\, photos\, show programs\, exhibition posters and correspondence relating to the KAC dating back to the 1960s. We have on display some of this history combined with works by local artists who have been influenced by the Kenai Art Center throughout the years. This show is continued in the back gallery. \nFirst Friday Opening Reception August 2nd 5–7 pm. Live Music. Refreshments. Free Event.

SUMMARY:Feels Like Home Exhibition Jan 2024--benefit for the KPBSD Students in Transition program
DESCRIPTION:KAC wants to start the 2024 New Year by giving. This Open Call show will exhibit works that reflect the FEELS LIKE HOME theme to raise money and bring awareness to the KPBSD Students in Transition program.\nWhat can the Students in Transition Program provide?\n• Immediate School Enrollment\n• Free school meal benefits\n• Transportation to and from school\n• School Supplies\n• Assistance in obtaining vital records\n• Referrals to local social service agencies and public programs \nStudents who don’t have stable housing face special challenges when it comes to school success. It is hard to learn if you are worried about your next meal\, about staying warm at night\, or about where you’ll be sleeping next. Students who frequently change schools or are frequently absent lose out on valuable learning time and often fall behind their peers.\nWhen an exhibition piece sells during the show\, the artist will be paid all of their portion of the sale\, and the gallery will donate 100% of the gallery portion of the sale of the piece to the Students In Transition program. There will also be a donation box available all month while the show lasts if you want to help the cause.\nArt submission applications for this show will be accepted Saturday November 11th through Saturday December 16th and also one more day on Saturday December 30th 12:00–5:00 pm.  \n
