SUMMARY:CAPTURING OUR TOWN via Plein Air
DESCRIPTION:The KAC is offering twice monthly outdoor art events (June through August) that give artists a chance to get together and creatively capture the scenery\, people and feeling of the Kenai/Soldotna Area.  This project has two purposes: \n1: Offer outdoor events that support and encourage artists to create bonds within the art community. \n2. Encourage artists  to create plein air works for submission for the upcoming call for art show titled OUR TOWN scheduled for March 2027. \nAugust 8th Location:  North Beach\, Spruce St\, Kenai \nTime: 2:00–5:00pm.  (PLEASE NOTICE THE TIME CHANGE) \nInstructions  for Artists:  \n\nJoin local artists outside while we create art that captures a sense of where we wander\, rest\, socialize\, recreate and live. DESCRIPTION:In our main gallery the KAC will be featuring painter Moira Ireland in her first solo show titled LIGHTS AND PERFECTIONS. \nArtist Talk 6 pm. Live Music. Refreshments. Free Event. Open to the public. \nThis show will run from April 29th through May 29th \nMoira is not new to the KAC. She won first prize in a previous call-for-art judged show and has shown many interesting and creative pieces at open shows at the KAC. \nMoira watches for the revelation of the divine presence in everyday instances\, dreams and stories. Her use of mixed media and paint seeks to capture a glimpse of the future in process\, the dance of creation declaring the divine and the movement of faith as action. Moira enjoys the contrast of reflective and shiny surfaces with heavy texture and pattern. She also layers natural elements or objects over abstract imagery. \n \nMoira Ireland is a Kenai artist who paints from her home. Between walks with her dog and homeschooling her 5 children\, she can be found at her easel\, in her garden or working on her home. SUMMARY:KPBSD Annual Student Art Show
DESCRIPTION:35th Annual KPBSD Student Art Show. \nEvery year the main and back galleries at the KAC exhibit creative\, unique and inspiring art from the minds of our local students.  In the main gallery we show the works of high school students. The back gallery showcases the middle school art works. The KPBSD art teachers hang the work. We would like to thank judges Bryan Olds\, Joshua Ostraff\, and Susan Watkins for volunteering their time to award prizes. The KAC loves to help support these middle school and high school artists and we invite you to come and enjoy this show. \nThe First Friday Opening Reception will be Friday April 3rd at 5:00 pm. DESCRIPTION:Join us in the Main Gallery in October for the art of Marco Mendoza and his show titled THROUGH THE EYES OF A DAYDREAMER.  Marco is known for his free flowing and upbeat “graffiti” style paintings. David was inspired to make art after spending time with and caring for his creative father during his father’s later years. David uses raw metals along with scrap metals\, reclaimed engine parts\, and other scraps he discovers.  His tools consist of an MIG welder\, plasma cutter\, oxygen and acetylene torches\, grinders and various hand tools.  In David’s words\, “I get promptings from time to time to create art for beautiful people that cross my path that I feel would be uplifted when they feel seen [through my art]”.  David invites people to look closely and touch and feel his pieces. He wants his art to have a “Touch and Feel factor”. This show will coincide with the main gallery opening reception and run through July 3rd.

DESCRIPTION:MURAL SALE!  In our back gallery for the months of May and August\, murals from our past mural shows will be stretched and for sale. Buyers will be able to take their murals home immediately after purchase.  This sale will open on Friday May 2nd at 5 pm and will close on Friday May 30th. In August\, the sale will open on Friday August 1st at 5 pm and run through Friday August 29th. When a mural sells\, we will replace it with a different mural\, so come back again and again to see the changes in the show. First Friday Opening Reception 5–7 pm. Refreshments and live music. Free event! \n  \nInformation For Mural Artists: \nThe KAC is looking for mural artists who have participated in past KAC mural shows to show and sell their stretched murals for our May 2025 mural sale happening in the back gallery.  \nIf you are interested\, here are the sale details:  \n\nYou must be a Kenai Art Center member to submit your mural for sale or there is a $35 entry fee.\nThe murals need to be on a stretcher frame. They don’t need to be traditionally framed\, but will only be accepted if they are stretched.  Hanging hardware must be attached on back of piece. \nEach artist needs to fill out and turn in an art entry form with their submissions. Each artist may submit up to 3 murals.   To download and print a form: https://kenaiartcenter.org/forms/\nWe are accepting mural submissions starting Saturday April 5th through Saturday April 26th. \nThis will be a rotating sale–meaning\, as a mural sells\, we will replace it with another one. DESCRIPTION:Join us at the KAC for our Annual Mural show on Friday November 8th. We invite local mural artists to come and work together to paint the Huge single canvas that covers the walls of our main gallery creating one collaborative piece of art. Our gallery will be open for extended hours from Tuesday October 29th (10 am to 10 pm) until Tuesday November 5th ending at 10 pm. During these extended hours you are invited for a sneak peek to see the mural in progress and to watch the artists create.  The SECOND Friday Opening Reception will be November 8th 5 pm. SUMMARY:Susie Scrivner--Portraits Of The Kenai
DESCRIPTION:Susie Scrivner is a self taught painter\, sculptor\, leathersmith\, glass worker\, musician and much more. She is the owner of SZQ Studio in Soldotna\, Alaska. After she suffered a severe life changing illness\, Susie began to delve into painting and other forms of art. According to Susie before she ever sold any work\, she listed a painting “As a fluke…[in] a local ad and when it sold\, I began to wonder if this closed door that I had viewed with so much loss and grief\, was perhaps actually a guiding wall that if I had the courage to follow it\, would direct me to a new place where life could breathe through me once more.”  \nWe invite you to the solo show PORTRAITS OF THE KENAI to see the many glorious works by Susie Scrivner at our First Friday Opening Reception on Friday October 4th\, 5–7 pm.  Live piano by Maria Allison. SUMMARY:MOMENTUM--KAC SILENT ART AUCTION 2024
DESCRIPTION:Our September & October 2024 fundraiser will be a little bit different this year. Instead of the usual Harvest Art Auction & the Silent Art Auction\, in the back gallery we will have on exhibition MOMENTUM–KAC SILENT ART AUCTION 2024.  The Kenai Art Center has been around for 70 years….and we want to carry that momentum into the future for at least seventy more years! We have invited local artists to exhibit and offer their work at a reduced rate so you can take advantage of the opportunity to purchase amazing art at a fraction of the original cost. In the back gallery\, The silent bidding will open on Friday September 6th at 5 pm in conjunction with the First Friday Opening Reception of the Aquarelle watercolor show happening in the main gallery.  Gallery visitors will have from September 6th until October 25th to bid to own their favorite pieces. This is the main fundraising event of the year for the KAC and the proceeds will go to updating and repairing our beloved old building (new boiler\, lighting system\, new roof\, to name a few). In the past\, we have asked the participating artists to donate their work with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the art center. Because our mission is to help support local artists\, this year we felt we wanted to adhere to that mission more closely and have given the artists the option to donate 100% of the sale of their art to the KAC or they can choose to receive 30% of the auction sale of the piece they donate.  This is going to be an amazing event! First Friday Opening Reception Sept 6ht 5–7 pm. Live music by the TUNEWEAVERS! Delicous appetizers and wine will be served.  Free event and open to the public.
