DESCRIPTION:Wild Shore New Music Features the Music of Joseph C. Phillips Jr.  \n  \nKenai Art Center welcomes Wild Shore New Music\, a New York-based\, Alaska-raised chamber music collective featuring composer Joseph C. Phillips Jr. on Thursday\, June 9\, 2022 at 7 p.m at the Kenai Art Center located at 816 Cook Dr\, Kenai\, AK 99611.  \nThe concert is a free event with a suggested donation of $20 at the door.  \n  \nWild Shore New Music presents new chamber music in south-central Alaska and is one of the only organizations dedicated to contemporary chamber music in the state of Alaska. Wild Shore fosters collaborations between living composers\, versatile musicians from all over the U.S.\, and creative artists and residents from the state of Alaska. ​Founded in 2012 by three Alaska-raised musicians\, Wild Shore presents concerts\, lecture recitals\, and education workshops across Alaska and the US. This year\, Wild Shore will feature musicians from Alaska performing the works of Brooklyn-based composer Joseph C. Phillips Jr. and have a group of performers from New York and Alaska.  \n  \nThe program will feature several of Mr. Phillips’ works including Unlimited\, from his larger work Changing Same. DESCRIPTION:The Kenai Art Center and Kenai River Brewing have teamed up to promote one of the best kept secrets in Old Town Kenai\, the Historic Kenai Jail.\n\n\n\nKenai River Brewing will be in the Art Center Feb. 3rd from 5-7 pm serving up their brand new beer: Pale Jail Ale. There is no cover charge for the event\, people 21+ can purchase beer tokens. Pale Jail Ale T-shirt will also be available\, and all proceeds go to support the Kenai Art Center. Live music will be performed in the gallery by the Tune Weavers\, including jail-themed songs and other country favorites. \n  \nThe jail was added to the Kenai Police & Fire Station in 1957. In 1973\, the building was leased to local artists\, who slowly transformed it into the art gallery\, pottery studio\, and workshop space that still thrives today. Come by the Kenai Art Center\, see a show and the preserved historic jail\, and have a beer!

I’ve set the event time for 5 pm to 8 pm but stay and paint/draw as long as you like. Sunset that evening is at 8:15 pm. DESCRIPTION:Join us to paint and/or draw in Old Town Kenai. All mediums welcome. Parking is available at the Kenai Art Center (the building is closed on Sundays) and we will disperse through out Old Town to spend the afternoon creating art. Many options for subject matter can be found in this little neighborhood\, parks\, historic buildings\, bluff views. \nJust a few things to keep in mind: \n\nPlease be mindful of private property\nDo not block walkways or traffic\nPlease do not dump solvents/used paint water on the ground\nCarry out your trash\nThe nearest public restroom is a little walk down The Meeks Trail near the beach\n\nSuggested Items to Bring: \n\nMedium of Choice – oils\, acrylics\, pastel\, gouache\, markers\, charcoal\, pencil\, finger paints… whatever your heart desires\nSubstrate to work on – painting panels\, paper\, etc\nAccessories and tools for your medium – brushes\, water\ncups\, sharpeners\, compositional aids\, etc\nLight weight easel\, backing board or sketch book\nSmall bag for trash – carry out what you bring in please\nLunch\, snacks\, drinks\nSunscreen and bug spray\nHat with brim\nRain jacket\nRags or paper towels\nUmbrella or sunshade – optional\nChair\, stool\, sit-upon – optional\nPortable table – optional\n\nAt some point during the afternoon try to check in with me\, Alisia\, to sign in.  I’ll be wearing a bright yellow hat.  If you miss me at the parking lot I will try to stay visible while painting and will also make my rounds to say “hi” to everyone.For more information and to RSVP go to: https://clubcreator.com/team/kenai-plein-air-group  or https://www.facebook.com/groups/kenaipleinair \nFeel free to contact Alisia with any questions at asarren@hotmail.com or 907-299-3379
