DOWN TO EARTH

MURAL 2023

Check Out The Virtual Gallery Tour

Opening Reception: November 10th, 5-7 pm

Exhibition: November 10th–December 16th

It’s Mural time again!

The Kenai Art Center front gallery walls will be covered in one continuous roll of canvas, then divided up into different shaped and uniquely sized spaces for 22 artists to cover with their creative visions and interpretations of what is DOWN TO EARTH

Each space will be an individual work of art, but the combination of spaces will create one HUGE communal piece of art.

Come and enjoy the show!

Mural Project History

The KAC hosted their very first Mural show in 2019. It was a big step into the unknown. Many of the participating artists hadn’t painted that large in this gallery space before. For some artists, the idea of working “live” next to other artists was a little unsettling. No privacy for mistakes or missteps–possible mess-ups or changes of design were out there for all the gallery artists and visitors to see. It is a unique experience for the artists to have a time constraint along with the added caveat of having their process “on display” for other artists and the many gallery visitors who stop by out of curiosity. The first opening show was well attended and visitors were floored by what they experienced in the gallery that night. What started out as a new and unfamiliar project became a much loved and anticipated annual event. Take a walk down memory lane and have a look at some past mural project pieces.
